How the planner works.

For every crop block: revenue = acres × yield/acre × price. Add them up and you’ve got total gross revenue. Divide by your total acres and you get the average gross dollars per acre — the number you actually compare year over year when you’re deciding whether the rotation pencils out.

Alfalfa share— many growers run hay on a 1/2 share with the landowner. Toggle the share slider to model that arrangement. 100% means you keep everything; 50% is the classic landlord split.

Wheat strawis computed from your combined Winter + Spring Wheat acres. A typical irrigated wheat field puts up about 2 tons of bale-quality straw per acre, priced around $100–$130/ton in most markets. Both numbers are editable.

This is a grossrevenue planner — it doesn’t take seed cost, inputs, or crop insurance into account. Pair it with the other tools in the Resource Center to build a fuller picture.
